The open call for the ECHO CURVE project is officially open!
In the context of radar level meters, the “echo curve” is a graphical representation of the signal received by the radar antenna as it interacts with the surface of the measured medium. In the shared socio-political and cultural context of partnering organizations, it symbolizes the act of paying attention to and reflecting on current topics that concern our existence. In what ways do artists convey messages of social concern through their art? How do they interact both among themselves and with the audience? How do they utilize feedback to further shape their artistic practices?
We invite emerging artists, up to 30 years of age, from Novi Sad, Zagreb, and Skopje to explore and open up discussions on the potential of artistic practice as a relevant modus of communication in contemporary society.
The ECHO CURVE project involves three collaborating organizations – Association of Artists “Project EXP” (Novi Sad), Association for Artistic Research and Curatorial Practices “Press to Exit Project Space” (Skopje), and ACC “Attack” (Zagreb). It is supported by the Swiss government, through the project “Culture for Democracy”, implemented by the Heartefact Foundation.
The project activities will take place from May to November 2024, including online meetings with a mentor and curators, as well as two visits to Zagreb and Skopje, during which ideas are expected to develop from concept to realization for the final exhibition in Novi Sad. All travel and accommodation expenses, as well as a fee for the participants, are provided.
We encourage applications that involve a research-oriented approach in the artistic process, new media practices, experimentation, audio-visual works, installations, performances, and similar forms. The works must be collapsible and easily portable for transport to Novi Sad, where the exhibition will occur.
