Hacklab01 is a long-standing AKC project, started in 2009. Its aim is to provide a discursive and collaborative space for (youth) DIY technical experts, activists, media artists and performers. The project utilizes recycled DIY technology in a work and residential environment through a year round program with free activities and a year round open application for participation. The physical space is used as a classroom, a gallery, a cyber-cafe and a place to freely exchange and realize ideas. In this space, some find – recycle or build – the technology they require, some find knowledge and others find refuge from social isolation. Hacklab01 is open to anyone interested in horizontal art practices, cooperative creation, automation, asynchronous work, and reusing computer tech for non profit artistic and / or cultural purposes.
