Biotecture implements living ecosystems into preexisting architecture. Interventions such as vertical and rooftop gardens can improve living spaces and their sustainability, improve energetic sustainability by acting as heat insulation, while increasing the oft problematic urban biodiversity. Increasing urban green surfaces consequently reduces pollution and noise while absorbing the excess emissions and micro particles. Vertical gardening can provide technically simple yet powerful solutions to increase these surfaces, without implementing huge architectural interventions or reconceptualizations. Biotecture utilizes and transforms the unused resources of vertical surfaces and flat roofs into osases. Biotecture workshops serve as tools to conceptualize and design aesthetic and functional solutions, while promoting the idea of recycling and upcycling. The workshops are realized as a collaboration among AKC and Zmag Associations.
